Let's try to goose this monkey up a bit, shall we? Here are some interesting stats
(from www.statbrain.com, which gives access data on web sites).
It's no surprise that the new STP is at the lowest number of visits per day (less than 10 visits per day). No surprise, given its tone and vituperative nature.
But this site, OC, is also at less than 10 clicks per day. So, the STPers are likely all smiles now. Misery loves company, I suppose would be one interpretation. Still, we have potential, while STP has none.
The big kahuna is OP, at something like 850 clicks per day. Probably that represents far fewer than 850 people per day, given that many repeat their visits. While this is still only a fraction of the local adult population with web access, it shows this site is in fact getting some views.
Conclusion: let's get OC going better!

Good question! Gee, I only look here infrequently lately, myself.
It does seem that such methods are not working as well as people might
want them to. The latest Sunday NYTimes had something about
condos with bulletin boards that work about the same as this
site, but maybe there are some advantages to those. Still,
the condo boards were made for communications about things
that people shared direct interest in (like if the elevators
were working), and the board members are
participants.
We could perhaps agree to swear off posting to OP, but port some of
their issues over here. I'm sure they wouldn't mind, so long as
attribution was given in the right ways.
Or maybe sponsor some fun events to get things going?

What would be the point of not posting on OP? You're right, our content is free to use with the proper attribution. But you're missing the chance to have your opinions heard by a lot more people, especially reporters and elected officials.
As I said here in January, the new OP platform allows for much broader discussion. Each registered user can have her or his own blog to do with whatever she or he pleases (within reason, of course). I'd love to have more of you sharing your good ideas over there. I don't mind if you recycle entries that you also post here or on other blogs.
